About Joan Miró
Joan Miró (1893–1983) was a Catalan artist and a key figure in modern art. His work encompasses painting, sculpture, engraving, tapestries, and ceramics. He moved between Fauvism, Surrealism, Dadaism, Cubism, and abstract art.
In the 1920s in Paris, he developed his characteristic style with intense colors and recurring symbols. There he was part of the avant-garde alongside artists and writers such as Picasso, Max Ernst, André Breton, and Salvador Dalí.
This volume showcases the richness and diversity of his work and places it in the context of modern art history.
